Henry VIII and His Court Louise Muhlbach H N Pierce Books

Having a hard time getting through this .. simply can't believe he , Henry VIii, would ever consider marrying his sister's daughter! Yet she, Lady Margaret Douglas and her father were planning it. I know cousins married but uncle and niece? This author has quite the (long winded) imagination . .. I'll keep at page after page of soliloquys a while longer. One star for now.

Henry VIII and His Court Louise Muhlbach H N Pierce Books Reviews

I am so involved with this time period that I sometimes think that I am Queen Catherine herself. I absolutely loved this book.
An outstanding book about a cruel and heartless man. This book is well written and I feel all Henry VIII fans should read it.
Having just read Susan Bordo's book "The Creation Of Ann Bolyn", with its dizzying array of historical references, I found this book disappointing, to say the least. The language often sounded contrived, especially in the dialogues of the numerous romantic elements. However, I did appreciate the footnote citations in the last part of the book 'the actual word's of Henry VIII' (and others) because they gave some credibility to the reported events.
This book was fantastic. You felt like a voyeur. The intricacies of the continual plots. King Henry,by this time, had become a tyrant and Catherine Parr had to maneuver within the framework of this king's twisted mind. With the help of John Heywood, the king's fool, she was able to stay away from the executioners' blade.
A lot is written of Anne Boleyn..and Henry the Eighth..which I find fascinating...but this is a great read about his last wife...the one to outlive
him..Catharine Parr..and her unhappy life..if you enjoy reading about that era then you will enjoy this book.
My mother had all of Louise Muhlbach's novels, which I was thoroughly enchanted with. If you enjoy historical romance novels about famous people, you will enjoy this one, which I just finished rereading. Her facts are spot on. Her portrayal of Henry Viii paints him as he was. In modern terms, I am reminded of North Korea's Kim Jong Il, brutal, sadistic, and full of himself. An excellent read.
This is the most inaccurate and strangely written description of Henry VIII.s court. It was a waste of my money buying it.
